FAQ

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

I believe that communication is key! The sooner you make me aware of any scheduling concerns, the better. Emergencies do happen, but I prefer clients inform me of any conflicts at least 48 hours in advance.

What should I wear on the day of my shoot?

Wear something that looks like you and makes you feel comfortable. Try and stick with solid colors or limited patterns. Nothing too distracting. We want YOU to be the focus of your shoot. Wear something that empowers you and fits your brand. If you're uncertain, ask friends for their opinion! Hearing from those who know you best can be extremely helpful when trying to decide how to present yourself.

Is a makeup and hairstylist provided?

At this time, a makeup and hairstylist is not provided. If you have a friend or know someone you'd like to do your hair and makeup, you are welcome to hire them for your shoot. However, this will not be included in your package pricing.

Doing your own hair and makeup is perfectly fine! When styling your own hair and makeup, I strongly suggest less is more. I can always add blush or eliminate a blemish later in Photoshop. Don't go too heavy with liners! If you have sensitive skin that gets irritated when exposed to the elements, consider a light covering. Hair should be styled as though you were going into an audition. Think of how you would dress, style your hair, or put on makeup for a first date. You want to look like yourself on your best day.

Do I get to choose which images I want edited?

Yes! After our session, you will receive an email invitation to a private gallery. This gallery will contain all of the unedited image roughs from our shoot. You will then be able to look through your images and select your favorites. Based on your package, I will then edit your selects and upload them to another gallery for your downloading pleasure.

What can I expect from a typical headshot session?

Prior to our session, I will ask you to complete a questionnaire that provides me with information about where you see yourself in this business. This helps me better understand what roles you tend to audition for and the qualities you'd like me to capture during our time together. We'll discuss what clothing works best as well.

On the day of our shoot, you'll arrive in one outfit and present your other clothing options for me to look over. We'll finalize your selected looks and get some music blasting for the shoot (I suggest creating your own playlist). If you're a musical theatre person, you already know how much music can help tell a story, and that holds true during our shoot. I find that music has helped many of my clients loosen up and allows their personalities to shine through. Once we're done finalizing details, we'll get you in front of the camera and have fun exploring.

I like my sessions with clients to be very collaborative and encourage any ideas that come to mind. If we're outside on location and you spot an area you think would be good for a photo, I'm down to try it! I want my clients to feel comfortable and free to express themselves. After all, this shoot is about YOU! And if you're someone who feels a bit awkward in front of the camera, not sure how to pose, don't worry, I'll be there to guide you. If a position feels odd, we'll adjust. Part of my job is to help direct you and make sure you get the best, most natural looking photos possible. If nothing else, remember that you know yourself better than anyone. Just bring yourself and a positive attitude. You are enough! Between the two of us, we'll capture some amazing photos that will certainly leave a lasting, positive impression.

Other things I recommend before a shoot ...

On the day before your shoot, try and get at least 8 hours of sleep. You want to look well rested. HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE! Make sure you drink tons of water to flush any dead particles from your skin, and keep it moisturized. I would also suggest giving up alcohol a week before your shoot if you want that added glow. Any shaving or brow plucking should be done at least one day before to avoid any redness during your session. I also highly recommend creating a playlist for your shoot. Music helps you connect with yourself, lessen stress, and adds another element of fun!
